Foreign Policy’s The Cable has anonymous-source-chattering that former Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., is being considered for a top national security post in the Obama administration.
The World-Herald has previously explored the pros and cons for Obama adding Hagel to his cabinet.
Republicans suggested Hagel’s endorsement of Democrat Bob Kerrey’s unsuccessful senate bid was really angling for a job in the Obama administration. Hagel denied that, saying he had turned down several nice job offers from Obama but declining to say which ones.
According to this latest news story, those jobs included secretary of homeland security, director of national intelligence and ambassador to China.
